Our Story

My Coach journey started with a Coach Cashin Double Swinger purse that still carries the faint scent of my mother’s perfume.

My mom raised three kids on her own, and for most of her life she owned only one Coach bag, a Cashin Double Swinger. It was the one quiet luxury she allowed herself in a life that didn’t leave much room for extras. After we were grown, she finally began collecting a few more and when she passed away, those bags came to me. I keep her Cashin Double Swinger in a zip-lock bag because it still holds a trace of her perfume. Sometimes I open it, take her in, and I can feel her again and I am back at home reaching into the ginger jar she kept on the top of the dining room cabinet to scrape together enough change to buy a gallon of milk at the corner neighborhood grocery store to make biscuits and gravy just before she got paid. We did not have much, but we had enough.

My own relationship with Coach began in 1988 while I was putting myself through college and worked part time in the accessories department at Hess’s Department Store. I was the one responsible for unboxing the leather goods and placing them on the sales floor. The Coach leather goods stood out when they arrived on the sales floor in their shipping boxes ready to be arranged on display. When I opened the Coach deliveries, the leather felt different. They were durable, stout, heavier, warmer and alive in a way other leather goods were not. The smell was rich and clean and unmistakable. That was the year I bought my first Coach bag on my own, a Coach Dinky and felt something settle into place. I started rearranging the Hess’s accessory floor display so the Coach bags we front and center. I would engage customers about the unique Coach leather goods, sales improved and then Coach management noticed the sales at the Hess’s Department store. That small moment eventually turned into years of working with the brand, off and on, for decades.

Vintage Icon Vault grew from the two bags that still matter to me: my mother’s Cashin Double Swinger, and my first Dinky I bought at Hess’s. I have nothing but pure joy over the last fifteen years from hunting, carefully curating, authenticating, and placing pre-loved Coach bags into new hands to continue the legacy through time. We want people to love and enjoy them from a long time and then pass them on as well.

Coach has always been generational. These bags are treasured and handed down. They live in the hands of pragmatic, practical women: grandmothers, mothers, sisters, and aunts who pass them along with care. Sometimes it’s a bag gifted on a birthday or graduation. Sometimes it’s the shared memory of a shopping trip to a Coach store, the quiet exchange of taste and judgment between women who understand quality without needing to explain it. These bags carry more than leather, they carry the quiet transfer of wisdom from one generation to the next.

The women who find their way here already know who they are. They’re not chasing flash or logos that need to announce themselves. They’re value-driven, quietly confident, and timeless who enjoy quiet luxury in the way that only comes from knowing a legacy that actually lasts. They put quality first and they don’t need anyone else to understand them. They’re looking for the bags that still feel honest, the ones that carry time in the leather and memory in the stitching. The ones that remind them of someone they loved, or of a stronger, quieter version of themselves.
