Vintage Icon Vault now hosts a structured catalog database covering Coach styles primarily from 1994 through 2012. The source file contains 2,510 style entries drawn from period catalogs. Of those, 2,180 list at least one catalog year inside the 1994–2012 window. The earliest recorded years in the sheet reach back to 1975 for certain classic shapes, while the latest year present is 2010. Peak catalog density falls in 1994 (319 style mentions), 2006 (296), 1996 (270), and 1997 (260).
Each row supplies the style number, the catalog name, the years the style appeared, and the colorways listed for those years. A separate Colors Reference sheet records 104 named colors with their years of use, associated collections (Classic, Lightweight, Madison, Sonoma, Sheridan, Soho, Hamptons, Legacy, and others), and hex codes for visual matching.
What the numbers show:
- Totes appear most frequently (152 entries), followed by wallets (115), belts (111), hobos (122), and clutches (81). Satchels, duffles, backpacks, wristlets, and scarves fill out the rest.
- Color documentation is dense for the mid-to-late 1990s and again around 2004–2007, when Signature, Soho, and Hamptons lines expanded. Black, British Tan, Mahogany, and Navy dominate the earlier Classic and Lightweight runs; later years introduce more fashion colors (Lilac, Fuchsia, Turquoise, Vermillion, Parchment) alongside continuing leather staples.
- Hex codes in the reference sheet allow direct comparison against photographed leather or fabric. For example, British Tan is recorded as #B7612B and Mahogany as #644c4f across multiple decades of Classic and Lightweight production.
Practical use for collectors and resellers
Style number plus catalog year narrows the production window. A bag stamped with a style that catalogs list only for 1996–1997 cannot be a 2005 piece, regardless of hardware or lining. Color lists further constrain possibilities: if a catalog shows a given style only in Black, British Tan, and Mahogany for those years, a claimed “original” in a later fashion color requires independent confirmation.
The database also flags limited-edition and special-collection entries (ostrich, alligator, scribble, optic signature, holiday patchwork) that appear in single years or short runs. Cross-checking the style number against the year column immediately surfaces those short runs.
Scope and limits
The sheet is a catalog compilation, not a complete production or serial-number index. Some styles list multiple years; others list one. Color entries sometimes combine several years or collections in a single cell. Pre-1994 classic shapes (Duffle Sac, various pouches, early totes) are included where the source catalogs referenced them, even though the stated focus of the file is 1994–2012. Maximum year captured is 2010.
For authentication work, pair the catalog data with physical markers: leather grain, hardware stamp, serial format, and construction details that fall outside any catalog listing. The hex codes support color disputes but do not replace side-by-side comparison under consistent lighting.
The full styles database and color reference are available on Vintage Icon Vault for direct lookup. Use the style number or approximate year range as the starting filter, then refine by color.
There are some style names missing and as further research continue this database will be updated.
